July/August 2025
- In August, UNC-CH hosted the Research Collaboration Workshop (formerly, Women) in Science of Data and Mathematics), one of the many AWM Research Networks. The workshop was organized by Harlin Lee (School of Data Science and Society, SDSS) and Yifei Lou (Mathematics, College of Arts and Sciences, and SDSS) of UNC-CH, as well as by Cristina Garcia-Cardona (Los Alamos National Laboratory), Kathryn Leonard (Occidental College), Karolyn Babalola (Booz Allen Hamilton), and Linda Ness (formerly Vencore Labs). Three UNC-CH-AWM-affiliated participants were current faculty advisor Caroline Moosmueller, former UNC-CH-AWM officer Shiying Li (now a faculty member at University of Nebraska at Lincoln), and current President Kaitlyn Hohmeier. All three participated in the project “Optimal Transport in Cell Biology” led by Caroline and Shiying, which studied the application of Gromov-Wasserstein optimal transport to the study of cell networks.
